How to play TAC FC

TAC FC is a free online football manager. You run one club in a real league against thousands of other clubs and managers. This guide covers everything you need for your first season, step by step.

Getting started

Sign up free with Google, Apple or email and you get your own club in your country, with a full squad, a stadium and a place in the league. Your home page shows your next match, your daily reward and what needs your attention. Start by checking your squad, then set your line-up before the next kick-off.

  • Your club is founded and ready. Your job: win matches, climb the table and earn promotion, all the way to the top division and continental cups.
  • To succeed you will set match-winning tactics, improve your squad on the transfer market, invest in youth and training, and keep the club鈥檚 money healthy.
  • Start on Home: it always shows your next match and what needs your attention.

Line-up and tactics

On the Tactics page you choose a formation and your starting eleven, plus the substitutes on the bench. Every player has a main position and sometimes a second one; playing him far from his positions makes him weaker, and the stars on the pitch show his real strength in that spot. You can set the mentality, pressing, attacking style and defensive line, give players roles and instructions, and pick your captain and set-piece takers. Tactics close one hour before kick-off and open again after the final whistle.

  • Drag players onto the pitch in Tactics. A player in his natural position plays best, an orange ring means he is out of position.
  • Pick set-piece takers and one substitute per line. Mentality, attacking style, pressing and defensive line change how your team plays.
  • Every change saves automatically.

Player skills

Outfield players have 14 skills from 1 to 20; goalkeepers have their own. A gold star means 20, a silver star 19.

  • The star rating (Rec) summarises how good a player is in his position. Age matters: players improve until their late twenties, then slowly decline.

Skills by position

Each position needs different skills. The most important ones count most in his rating and on the pitch, so train them first. Skills that matter little barely change how he plays there.

Training and youth

Training runs every week. Put your players into drill groups such as fitness, shooting or crossing, and choose how hard they train; harder training improves them faster but tires them more. Once a week you can bring young prospects into your youth academy, and promote the best of them to the first team when they are ready.

  • Training runs every Tuesday at midnight, your country鈥檚 time. Put players into drill groups and set each group's intensity: higher intensity builds skills faster but tires players, and a tired player gains much less.
  • You can give a single player a personal focus on his player page. A better training ground speeds up everyone's progress (up to 40% at the top level), a better youth academy speeds up players aged 21 or under (up to 30%), and PRO clubs train 5% faster.
  • With PRO and a hired head coach, players aged 21 or under also learn up to 6% faster, depending on the coach's youth skill. A one-season coach deal signed with less than 8 weeks of the season left starts next season.

Scouting & youth

Scouts find young talent. Send them to a region; better scouts find better players.

  • The academy is not automatic: once a week, open Squad > Youth, pick a talent type and a position, and press Pull to bring in new youth players. The pull renews every Saturday.
  • Normal talents are 16 to 17. Old talents are 18 to 19: more ready now, less potential. Young talents are 14 to 15 with the most room to grow; they are PRO only and cost 2 PRO days per pull.
  • A free club pulls 2 players per week, PRO pulls 3 at once. A better youth academy and a scout on a youth network both raise the quality of what you pull. Promote the ones you believe in.

Matches and the calendar

Every country plays on the same calendar: four league rounds a week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, plus cup ties and international matches. A live match takes about fifteen minutes with a short break at half time. You can watch it in 3D or 2D, make substitutions and change tactics while it plays, and watch the replay later. Results follow the strength, form and fitness of each team.

  • League matches are played on Saturday and Tuesday at 18:00 UTC: two rounds a week, so a 38-round season takes about 19 weeks. Every club plays each other twice. The top 3 clubs are promoted, the bottom clubs relegated.
  • The national cup is played on Mondays at 18:30 UTC and is knockout: lose once and you are out. It is drawn after league round 4 and the final is played at least 4 rounds before the league ends. The international cup is played on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The next season starts automatically a few days after the last league round. Quick matches can be played any time and do not affect injuries.
  • A red card or too many yellow cards bring a ban. A ban is served in league matches only: the player misses the next league matches, can still play in cups, and his ban counts down only when a league match is played.
  • An official match needs at least 19 available players (11 starters and 8 substitutes, not injured or suspended), or it is lost 3-0.

Transfers

The transfer market lists players for sale with a starting price; managers bid, and every new bid must beat the last one. You can also sign free players without a fee, you only pay their wages. Keep at least nineteen players in your squad, and watch your wage bill: a player costs money every week.

  • There is no transfer window: you can buy and sell all season. Players are sold at auction. An auction lasts 5 or 7 days (PRO managers can also pick 2 or 3 days). The first bid is at least the player's skill index x 1,000. Each next bid must beat the last by at least 3% (and at least $100K), and a bid in the final 2 minutes adds 2 minutes, so nobody wins by sniping.
  • No bid, offer or starting price can be more than 50% above the player's value. There is no market fee: the seller gets the whole price.
  • Star players to watch them. You can also make a private offer for a player: it lasts 48 hours, and the two clubs can take turns with up to 3 counter-offers. Or quick-sell to an agent for instant cash: he keeps 80% and you get 20%.
  • A player you buy cannot be listed again for 6 weeks. Wages are never negotiated: a player's weekly wage is 16 x his skill index and is updated each week.

Finances and the stadium

Your club earns from ticket sales, television money, sponsors and the facilities at the ground, and spends on wages, transfers and upkeep. Build your stadium seat by seat to grow your gate income, set ticket prices, and choose season goals with your sponsor; meeting them pays bonuses and keeps the board confident.

  • More seats sell more tickets, but empty seats still cost maintenance. Gate income is booked after every home match, and food, drink, shops and parking earn money every home match too.
  • The youth academy, training ground and medical facilities improve your squad instead of your income.

PRO and Free PRO

The game is free to play. PRO adds extra tools and comfort, such as more friendlies, saved tactics, a head coach and faster training. You can buy PRO days, or earn them with Free PRO by watching a short video for a few hours of PRO.

Rules

  1. 1You can run several teams under the same account: sub teams in other countries and a B team, with PRO. Manage teams
  2. 2Only one account per person. A second account, automated bidding or arranging results between clubs leads to a ban.
  3. 3Be respectful in the forum: no spam, no insults, no personal data.
  4. 4Transfers between clubs you control, or that look arranged, are reversed.
  5. 5Wages are paid every Monday and are never negotiated: a player's weekly wage is 16 x his skill index, updated each week. Renewing a contract only adds years, for free.
  6. 6A bank loan costs 12% a season and is repaid in 20 weekly payments. You can have one loan at a time.
